Data has indicated there has been increased interest in Phuket from Chinese buyers in the past year.
Phuket has been identified as one of four Thai destinations to experience increased interest from Chinese buyers.
The Bangkok Post reported a 10 per cent growth in Chinese inquiries for the Thai property market in the past year, with data from international property website Juwai indicating the country was on track to remain the most popular country for Chinese property buyers in 2019
According to the research, Phuket joins Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya as the top destinations.
Coldwell Banker Sea Property's Norbert Witthinrich said Phuket held a multi-faceted appeal for Chinese buyers.
"Phuket is a recreational destination offering excellent infrastructure, weather, entertainment and services in particular in the Health and Education sector," he said.
"Low cost carriers offer ample routes connecting many Chinese cities to the island, making Phuket an ideal and accessible tropical getaway."
Juwai.com reaches more than 3.1 million Chinese-speaking users monthly and showcases 2.8 million listings from 90 countries.
According to data from the site, Thailand was the sixth most popular destination for 2016, before climbing to third in 2017.
The latest rankings have it coming in ahead of Australia, the US, Canada and the UK
Mr Witthinrich said condos were popular among Chinese buyers, adding that developers had adjusted supply to reflect this demand.
"Chinese buyers are mainly investing in small size condos within the THB 3.5 to 5 Mll bracket as opposed to mid to high end property, due to tight government controls regarding currency outflows," he said.
"Cheaper homes, make down payments more manageable."
