Top eight ranking for one of two Asian countries on the US News list
Phuket has come in at number eight on the top ten list of best world travel destination hot spots, according to US News & World Report.

The multi-platform publisher of news and information, (US News and annual print and e-book versions of its authoritative rankings of Best Colleges, Best Graduate Schools and Best Hospitals), released its annual list of the 30 World’s Best Places to Visit in July.
According to the site, Phuket “is a little piece of paradise”, that comes with a “relatively low-price tag for everything from its accommodations to spa treatments and boat tours”.
As well as the location and scenery, US News states Phuket has flavourful “cuisine (think: lemongrass, lime leaves, chillies) and its rich culture, heavily influenced by its reigning religion –Buddhism”.
All the top 10 destinations are gold badged by US News out of a list of 30 top destinations. Eighth-placed Phuket, the highest placed Asian destination, was ahead of Barcelona (11th) and New York City (12th).
The Maldives (16th) was the only other Asian destination to make it into the Top 30. However four destinations in Thailand were listed in the top 15 Best Places to Visit in Asia.
